We used to make homemade mayo occasionally as a divine treat for sandwiches. The ultimate was having it with a well-prepared french fry! And a pal of mine told me she used to feed her kids mayo with curry powder and veggies to dip. I'll make that for the blog some day. Must imbrace the fat now that I no longer have cookies to look to.
I use a recipe from Julia's Kitchen Wisdom to make mayo. And I think I've seen alton brown do it too. It's really quick and easy. Try it today!

This one's got me wondering if you could develop a homemade mayonnaise recipe? I once made saffron anchovy mayo from the recipe in "Simple to Spectacular" and it was pretty tasty. Obviously, kids wouldn't be too keen on those flavors, but there are probably some other interesting ones that would suit immature tastebuds. At the very least, it would make for a fun science experiment for them to watch the oil emulsify into a solid. Think about it!

I've never tried to make ketchup, but your recipe looks easy enough. And I think I have most of the ingredients. I bet it tastes a lot better than storebought, too!
